Abstract
Objectives: The objective of this study was to investigate function evaulation of elderly with Modified Barthel Index(ADL) and Lambeth Disability Screening Questionnaire (IADL) and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Methods: Korean version of ADL and IADL, MMSE were measured for 40normal in the Elderly in July 15-20. 2000. Their ages were 65 or more in years. 14 items from Modified Barthel Index and 14 items from Modified Lambeth Disability Screening Questionnaire were used. Results: The mean scores of Modified Barthel Index(ADL) was 99.3, mean scores of Lambeth Disability Screening Questionnaire(IADL) was 44.3, mean scores of Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) was 23.9. MMSE-K as follow definite dementia(≥24) is 47.5%, lefinite non- dementia (≤19) is 40.0%, and questionable dementia (20-23) is 12.5% in listributions for cognitive function, respectively. Conclusions: The IADL assessment of Lambeth Disability Screening Questionnaire is more accurate than Modified Barthel Index in assessing physical health status and disability. Results indicated that no smoking and drinking at onset had high Modified Barthel Index. Modified Lambeth Disability Screening Questionnaire and Cognitive functions were associated with age.
